GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a legal framework for the protection of personal data applicable throughout the EU, which safeguards the rights of EU citizens against the unauthorised processing of their data and personal information. The Regulation was adopted by the European Parliament on 27 April 2016 and was due to come into force on 25 May 2018. It is Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data.

The GDPR at ASEP
Personal data
A personal identification number and date of birth are required for the RIV; without these, it is not possible to submit records to the RIV. Personal data, including personal identification numbers, are collected by ASEP on the basis of Act No. 130/2002 Coll. – the Act on the Support of Research, Experimental Development and Innovation.
The content of the RIV, as well as the procedures for the transfer, inclusion, processing and provision of data, are laid down by the aforementioned Act and Government Regulation No. 267/2002 Coll. on the Research and Development Information System.
Personal Data Processing Agreement
In accordance with the GDPR, the Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences has concluded a Personal Data Processing Agreement with individual institutes.
Contact details of data processors on the ASEP website
On the ASEP website, we maintain an up-to-date list of data processors for individual institutes, including their addresses and contact details. All data subjects will be informed of this via a mass email, and we are also publishing Information on the processing of personal data on the website. This processing of personal data, based on our legitimate interest, does not require your consent; however, you have the right to object to this processing at any time.
In connection with the protection of personal data, we have sent authors from Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences the so-called Information Notice, which is intended for authors whose personal data is processed in the ASEP database. We recommend informing authors from individual institutes in a similar manner.

We will send information on ensuring compliance of the ARL library system with the GDPR upon request.
