Basic Information

ASEP – Repository of the Czech Academy of Sciences

Since 1993, The Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences has been the coordinator of bibliographic database ASEP, which contains the records of publishing activities of 53 institutes of Czech Academy of Sciences. The total number of records is around 318,000 (with an average annual increase of 12,000), they are divided into 30 categories, and about 79 trained institutional data administrators participate in their creation.

Full texts may be saved in ASEP Repository (Institutional Repository) with each record from the year 2012. Selected entries can be displayed in different formats, and the data may be printed out or saved for future use. This database is used to evaluate the scientific results achieved by the institutes, departments or individual researchers of the Czech Academy of Sciences, either in that institution or in the entire country. Within the Czech Republic, the evaluation is based on the results submitted to Information Register of Research and Development results, maintained by the Research, Development and Innovation Council.

ASEP Repository is harvested by various databases such as Information Register of Research and Development results, National Repository of Grey Literature and OpenAIRE.

Since 2017, ASEP also supports data records and data file storage. The bibliographic records of the results can be linked to metadata records so that the user gets not only the full text of a result, but also the data on which the result is based. Each dataset has its own description and metadata follows international standards.
The datasets are searchable in advanced search.

ASEP Analytics was created as a software extension that provides analytical reports derived by a combination of queries and calculations from the data stored in the ASEP database, which cannot be displayed directly in the catalogue. It displays summaries and statistical data for CAS, for individual institutes and for individual authors. Each institute, its scientific teams and authors have access to web pages with the same graphic layout – menu, filters for setting the query (time period, document type, etc.) and the field of data.
